Edward and Helena Short with Winifred (born 1902)
Edward George Short and Helena Mary Price were married on 7th September 1889 at the Parish Church, Oakley Square in London. Both gave the same address - 60 Harrington Street which is near Euston Station.
How many children did they have? One was
WINIFRED LILIAN SHORT, b. 21st September l902 at 2.Portland Terrace, Blandford Road, Beckenham, Kent. The birth was registered by her mother, but not until 3rd November 1902, six weeks later. Births had to be registered within a specified time, possibly six weeks, to avoid a Penalty. The Short family would appear to be law-abiding in this respect. In N.Wales, I have several instances of people who had a "real" birthday and an official one as stated on the birth certificate, as the result of adjusting the date of birth to avoid the penalty.
Edward and Helena's children:
After Helena Mary died, and after Winifred Lilian left home to live with her aunt, Edward Short married again. There were several children of the second marriage, but we know nothing about them. There is no recollection of any contact between the families.
